BCT Cap & Rubber Assembly Machine
The BCT Cap Rubber Assembly Machine is a fully automatic machine designed to assemble rubber stoppers (elastomer closures) into plastic caps used for Blood Collection Tubes (BCT). The machine ensures accurate orientation, insertion, and secure assembly of the rubber stopper inside the cap before the assembled caps are transferred to the tube capping machine. The system provides high-speed, reliable, and contamination-free assembly suitable for GMP-compliant manufacturing.
Operational Process
1. Plastic Cap Feeding
- Plastic caps are loaded into a hopper or vibratory bowl feeder.
- The feeder automatically separates and orients the caps in the correct direction.
- Oriented caps are transferred through a linear track to the assembly station.
- Sensors monitor cap availability and detect any jams or incorrect orientation.
2. Rubber Stopper Feeding
- Rubber stoppers are loaded into a separate hopper equipped with a vibratory bowl feeder.
- The feeding system singulates and correctly orients each stopper.
- Any overlapping or improperly oriented stoppers are automatically rejected or recirculated.
- Correctly oriented stoppers are delivered to the insertion station.
3. Cap and Rubber Presence Detection
- Photoelectric or proximity sensors verify:
- Plastic cap presence
- Rubber stopper presence
- Correct orientation of both components
- If either component is missing or misaligned, the assembly cycle is skipped and an alarm is generated.
4. Automatic Rubber Insertion
- A servo-controlled or pneumatic pick-and-place mechanism positions the rubber stopper directly above the plastic cap.
- The stopper is pressed into the cap using a controlled insertion force.
- The insertion depth and pressure are precisely controlled to prevent damage to either component while ensuring a secure fit.
5. Assembly Verification
- Integrated sensors or an optional vision inspection system verify:
- Presence of the rubber stopper inside the cap
- Correct seating depth
- Proper alignment
- Complete assembly
- Any defective assemblies are automatically rejected.
6. Finished Cap Discharge
- Successfully assembled cap-rubber components are transferred to the outlet conveyor or collection hopper.
- The assembled caps are then supplied automatically to the Blood Collection Tube Capping Machine for final tube sealing.
