Automatic Vial LYO Loading Unloading Machine
An Automatic Vial Lyophilizer (Lyo) Loading & Unloading Machine is designed for automated and aseptic transfer of vials between the vial filling line and the lyophilizer during freeze-drying operations. The system improves productivity, reduces manual handling, and ensures contamination-free processing in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Working Process Flow
1. Infeed of Filled Vials
Filled and partially stoppered vials are received from the vial filling machine through an automatic conveyor system.
The machine synchronizes vial movement for continuous and smooth transfer.
2. Vial Accumulation & Row Formation
Vials are accumulated and arranged into rows or predefined patterns using guiding and indexing mechanisms.
Sensors monitor:
- Vial presence
- Alignment accuracy
- Conveyor movement
3. Automatic Vial Transfer
The automatic loading mechanism transfers grouped vials from the conveyor to the loading platform using:
- Push-pull system
- Servo-driven transfer system
- Mechanical handling arrangement
4. Lyophilizer Shelf Loading
The machine automatically loads vials onto the lyophilizer shelves in an organized manner.

5. Freeze Drying Process
After loading completion:
- The lyophilizer door closes
- The freeze-drying cycle begins
The loading system remains integrated with the lyophilizer controls for synchronized operation.
6. Automatic Vial Unloading
Once the lyophilization process is completed:
- The lyophilizer door opens automatically
- The unloading system removes vials from the shelves
The machine transfers vials safely back onto the discharge conveyor.
7. Transfer to Downstream Equipment
The unloaded vials are automatically conveyed for:
- Stoppering
- Capping
- Inspection
- Labeling
- Secondary packaging
